Year 10 victory
Redemption complete! TLS delivered a stunning performance at the Gallagher Stadium, home of Maidstone United in the Year 10 Championship final, beating Cornwallis 3-1 in a high-energy, hard-fought match. Having suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to the same opposition earlier in the season, this victory was as much about pride as it was about silverware – and TLS rose to the occasion.
From the first whistle, TLS showed determination and composure, dominating possession and pressing high. The breakthrough came midway through the first half with a well-taken goal that sent the supporters wild. With a goal in hand TLS kept pressing to find the net once again. After several of near misses, a second goal was scored just before the first half wrapped up.
After the restart Cornwallis came back fighting and got themselves a goal from distance – just chipping our keeper. This was a very similar response to the last meeting between TLS and Cornwallis; however, this did not cause the boys to break. They held their nerve, kept their shape and eventually came back with another goal with a moment of brilliance to restore the lead.
Despite Cornwallis pushing hard to get back into the match, the TLS defence held firm, showing discipline and resilience under pressure.
This 3-1 win not only secured the championship trophy but also showed how far the team has come since that earlier loss. Every player stepped up, and the result was a fitting end to a fantastic season.
Congratulations to all the players and supporters – TLS are champions!
