Charity and Local Community

It’s important for school students to have the opportunity to be involved in charity work and their local community because it helps them develop empathy, responsibility, and a sense of connection to the world around them. By contributing their time and energy to causes that matter, students gain valuable life skills, build confidence, and learn the importance of helping others. These experiences not only support personal growth but also strengthen communities and inspire a lifelong commitment to making a positive difference.

Charity

As a school we have strong relationship with local businesses, charities and organisations. We have engaged in fundraising for Children in Need through Cake Sales and our Dance Dash outreach event. At Christmas, each student is asked to bring in donations for Maidstone Food Bank and each House Personal Development Group puts together a donation box for Operation Christmas Child to support children across the globe. Each School House has voted for a charity they will support this year as we know there is much more we can do.

Local Community

As a school we continue to build our relationship with our local community. Our students performed an extract of ‘Oliver’ at the Lenham Christmas Lights switch on. Furthermore, our students represented the school at a local community Remembrance event attending the Church Service and Remembrance Parade. Our School Choir continues to be involved in a number of community events.

To celebrate the 141st birthday of Lenham Train Station, Lenham School students helped commemorate events by serving cake and tea at the train station that morning.

As part of our Eco-Award, the Student Council’s Eco Committee are planning our first school community litter pick.

This year we held our first ‘Over-60’s Christmas Themed Afternoon Tea’ which was planned, prepared and served by our Sixth Form Students, and included a range of games as well as Christmas Carols and extracts from our 'Beauty and Beast' Show.
