Dear Parent/Carer Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have reluctantly taken the decision to direct one year group to Virtual Learning, Monday 7 February. Year 9 students should not attend school for face-to-face teaching on Monday 7 February. Mr C Foreman Headteacher

Last week our students visited London to see an immersive production of Great Gatsby. Cast members came out to chat with our students after the show. Apparently, this rarely happens. A measure of how impressed the cast were by the engagement of our students in the immersive show. https://t.co/WBGb19OY6v

Even the rain today provided a photo opportunity for Summer School! Well done Aliesha and Max. https://t.co/VMARMrzcld

Despite arriving in torrential rain we had a superb first day at Summer School. Here are some of my favourite pieces of work from the Art session this afternoon. Students used their iPads to create images from a journey: https://t.co/AwEdLV0dEM

If you have already been issued with your iPad, Summer School is a fantastic opportunity to start exploring how it can support your learning. Please remember to bring it fully charged! https://t.co/ekLfHSVgUb

We have now completed our third week of Term 2 with the majority of students enjoying uninterupted learning. We know that the remaining weeks until Christmas will continue to be challenging but I am very proud of what our students and staff have so far achieved.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Another very productive week almost navigated. I have been speaking with many students and they really appreciate being able to come to school and engage with their learning. Have a wonderful and safe week-end.

You will receive a progress report for your child later today. Please take time to view our supporting video designed to fully explain our new assessment and reporting strategy. https://t.co/TwJyoEpa4d

When we returned from Lockdown 1.0 we worked with each student to complete a Personal Learning Plan (PLP). This was designed to catch-up any lost learning identified in the end of year assessments. They have completed their PLPs and were presented with completion certificates. https://t.co/hZj98pGoV0

What a pleasure it has been to see our students again. Thank you for ensuring that your child attends school with a face mask. Remember to keep the mask clean or renew it if disposable. Please remind students that they must wear the mask when they are not in a classroom.

Following our recent Ofsted inspection, I am delighted to inform you that The Lenham School has been assessed as Good in every category.

Ofsted recognised that students, staff and parents have worked together over recent years to create “a good school where pupils’ academic and social success are important to leaders and staff.

I would like to acknowledge the pride that students expressed when asked about their school by the Ofsted Team, who reported that, “Pupils say that they are proud of their school. They work with purpose and commitment. Pupils’ determined attitudes are having a positive impact on their achievement.”

As a member of the teaching team at The Lenham School I am pleased the hard work and dedication of teachers was recognised when Ofsted commented that “Teachers know their subjects well. As a result, pupils develop knowledge, skills and confidence across their learning. Committed teaching and the increasingly well-planned curriculum mean that pupils achieve well.”

We recently introduced the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme to our sixth-form and the report identified that, “Sixth-form students enjoy school, attend regularly and achieve well. They are very positive about their studies. In the sixth form, they choose from a range of academic and vocational courses.

As you read the full report, I am certain that you will gain a sense of how much we have already achieved, as well as being excited about the future for The Lenham School.

Mr C Foreman
