Internationalism and Global Awareness
At The Lenham School we believe that students should be given as many opportunities as possible to grow their understanding of the world, igniting their curiosity and expanding their horizons beyond our local villages and towns.
International Trips
Our commitment to expanding student horizons is clear in the number of international trips we offer as a school. Students have the opportunity to explore the world first-hand through life changing experiences, developing them as citizens but also enhancing their learning.
From visits to Disneyland Paris for Film Studies, to practicing their German speaking skills in Cologne, students have a wide variety of different experiences.
In the last three years these experiences have included:
- Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland
- Cologne, Germany
- Ski Trip to La Molina, Spain
- Visit to Ypres (Trenches) in Belgium
- New York
- Paris (including Disneyland)
With further exciting international opportunities planned include:
- Ski Trip to Austria
- Barcelona - Cultural Visit
- Romania Expedition
- EuroDisney Trip
- New York
Global Citizenship Opportunities
We also believe students should develop their understanding of what it means to be a global citizen. In the summer 2026, students will be travelling to Romania as part of the Outlook Expedition; fundraising the cost of the trip; students will go backpacking and work in a brown bear sanctuary.
Links with international schools
The Lenham School continues to work with other international professionals to provide students the opportunity to communicate with students their age in a range of countries across the globe. This year we were excited to welcome 40 students from Bad Munstereifel School in Germany to The Lenham followed by the Lenham School Choir performing to the Deputy German Ambassador at a Twinning Anniversary dinner.
This coming year we have partnered with Collège Jean Jaurès in Lens, with a initial ‘pen-pal’ project being launched between the two schools.
