Swadelands 2016 Open evening was a resounding success with an exceptionally high number of visitors. Parents and prospective students were treated to a wide range of activities across all departments, including English performances of An Inspector Calls and Of Mice and Men, an ‘e newsroom’, participating in Countdown in the Maths Department and the use of a bicycle pump to inflate sheeps’ pluck (lungs). In the new technology hub, visitors were able to experiment with the latest interactive Ipad technology rolling out across the school in the next 12 months and experience the new squiggle boards installed in all teaching classrooms. The media centre showcased new classroom technology, and visitors produced music videos of themselves. On the floodlit 3G pitch visitors participated in football matches and a large variety of activities including basketball, table tennis and trampolining were on offer in the newly renovated sports hall. On display in the newly refurbished canteen were the plans for the new state of the art Science block due to be unveiled in September 2017.

Year 7 and 8 students proved to be a real credit to the school, leading visitors with confidence around the site to view the many facilities and experience the teaching in various facets of the school. They were also showcasing the new uniform introduced this year to which there has been an overwhelmingly positive response.
